Children's dentist in Les Corts

Paediatric dentistry is dental care for babies, children and teenagers. At our clinic in Les Corts, Barcelona, we check their teeth, prevent decay and keep an eye on how their mouth develops, taking our time and never rushing. We recommend a first visit when the first tooth appears or, at the latest, around their first birthday.

What it is

Baby teeth matter: they hold space for adult teeth, help with speech and chewing, and decay in a baby tooth hurts too. At children's visits we check teeth and gums, show them how to brush for their age and spot bite problems or habits such as dummy use early on.

We are a family clinic: many of our patients started with us as children and now come with their parents, or on their own. We take time to show them the instruments, let them touch and ask questions, and go at their pace. That way, going to the dentist simply becomes normal.

How it works

  1. Get to know us

The first visit is mainly about getting used to the chair, the lights and the team. If your child is happy to, we do a simple check-up.

  2. Check teeth and gums

We look for decay and wear, check how teeth are coming through and how the bite fits. If needed, we take an X-ray.

  3. Teach brushing

We give you practical tips for their age: how much toothpaste, which brush and how to help at home.

  4. Protect with sealants and fluoride

When appropriate, we apply fluoride varnish or seal the adult back teeth to help protect them from decay.

  5. Plan the next visit

We suggest the next check-up based on your child's decay risk, usually every 6 months.

Aftercare

  • Brush twice a day, always last thing before bed
  • Until around age 6 to 8, an adult should help with brushing
  • Use fluoride toothpaste in the right amount for their age
  • Keep sweets and juice to mealtimes rather than between meals
  • Avoid letting them fall asleep with a bottle of milk or juice
  • If they knock a tooth, call us even if it doesn't look serious

Frequently asked questions

When should my child first see a dentist?

Paediatric dental societies recommend the first visit when the first tooth comes through or, at the latest, around the first birthday. It is a short, relaxed visit to check everything and give you tips for home.

Do decayed baby teeth need treating if they're going to fall out?

Usually, yes. Decay in a baby tooth can hurt, become infected and affect the adult tooth developing underneath. Baby teeth also hold space for adult teeth. We assess each case based on age and how long until the tooth would naturally fall out.

What if my child is scared of the dentist?

Start by talking about the dentist in a normal way, never as a threat. At the clinic we go step by step, explaining everything in simple words and never forcing. Often one or two short visits are enough for them to feel comfortable.

When should we start using fluoride toothpaste?

From the first tooth: a tiny smear, about the size of a grain of rice, until age 3, then a pea-sized amount. We'll explain at the visit based on your child's age and decay risk.

Is there a charge for a child's first check-up?

Please check our prices page for the current terms for children's check-ups. If you have any questions, give us a call and we'll explain before you book.
