What it is

Veneers are thin shells bonded to the front of the tooth to cover stains, small chips, wear or gaps. They can be composite (shaped directly in your mouth in one visit) or porcelain (made in a dental laboratory, and they usually keep their colour better over the years).

Before suggesting anything, we listen to what you'd like to change and tell you honestly what's possible. Sometimes whitening or a small composite touch-up is all you need. The before-and-after images we show are illustrative: results depend on each mouth.

How it works

  1. Listen to your goals

We talk about what bothers you about your smile and check that your teeth and gums are healthy.

  2. Design the smile

We take photos and measurements and, where the case allows, show you a preview so you can see the proposal before starting.

  3. Prepare the teeth

Many composite veneers need no drilling. For porcelain veneers, any preparation is kept to a minimum.

  4. Fit the veneers

We bond the veneers, check your bite and polish them so they blend in with your other teeth.

  5. Review and polish

At check-ups we check the fit and polish them to keep their shine.

Aftercare

  • Brush and clean between your teeth with floss or interdental brushes, as you would natural teeth
  • Avoid biting hard objects or your nails, or opening packets with your teeth
  • If you grind your teeth at night, ask us about a night guard
  • Go easy on coffee, tea, red wine and tobacco, especially with composite veneers
  • Keep up your check-ups so we can polish and check the edges

Frequently asked questions

Do veneers damage your teeth?

It depends on the type. Many composite veneers are placed without drilling the tooth, and with porcelain veneers we aim to remove as little enamel as possible. We explain what each option involves for you before you decide.

How long do veneers last?

Composite veneers usually need touch-ups or polishing over the years, while porcelain veneers tend to last longer and keep their colour better. How long they actually last depends on your habits, whether you grind your teeth and regular check-ups. We can't promise an exact number of years.

Will people be able to tell I have veneers?

The aim is that they can't. We choose the colour and shape to suit your face and your other teeth, which is why we prefer natural results to extreme white.

Should I choose whitening or veneers?

If your teeth are healthy and you only want them lighter, whitening is usually the more conservative option. Veneers make sense when you also want to change the shape or cover stains that don't respond to whitening.

How much do veneers cost?

It depends on the material and the number of teeth. Check our prices page for a guide, and after your assessment we give you a detailed written quote.
