Dental implants in Les Corts

A dental implant is a titanium root placed in the jawbone to replace a missing tooth and hold a fixed crown. At our clinic in Les Corts, Barcelona, we use Anthogyr implants and plan every case after an assessment with X-rays. The implant usually takes between 2 and 6 months to bond with the bone.

What it is

An implant is a small titanium screw that acts as an artificial tooth root. Once it has bonded with the bone, a crown is fixed on top that looks, feels and works much like a natural tooth. Implants can also anchor a bridge or stabilise a full denture.

We work with Anthogyr implants, made by a long-established French manufacturer that is part of the Straumann Group. We choose the implant and technique to suit your bone, your general health and your needs, and we talk you through everything before we start. Every case needs an individual assessment: no two mouths, or timelines, are the same.

We work with Anthogyr implants.

How it works

  1. Assess your case

We examine your mouth, review your medical history and take the scans needed to measure the available bone. You leave with a written plan and quote.

  2. Prepare your mouth

If there is decay, gum inflammation or not enough bone, we treat that first. An implant lasts longer in a healthy mouth.

  3. Place the implant

Under local anaesthetic, we place the implant in the bone. Most patients say it was easier than they expected.

  4. Allow it to heal

The bone bonds with the implant over a period that usually ranges from 2 to 6 months. Where possible, you wear a temporary tooth in the meantime.

  5. Fit the crown

We take impressions and fit the final crown, adjusting your bite so you can chew comfortably.

  6. Review it yearly

Regular check-ups and hygiene visits are the best way to look after the implant and the gum around it.

Aftercare

  • For the first 24 hours, apply a cold pack to the outside on and off, and avoid rinsing hard
  • Eat soft, lukewarm food for a few days and chew on the other side
  • Don't smoke, at least for the first few weeks: smoking slows healing
  • Take the medication and mouthwash as prescribed, without changing the instructions yourself
  • Brush the area gently from the day we advise, then add interdental brushes
  • Call us if bleeding won't stop, you develop a fever or the pain gets worse

Frequently asked questions

Does getting an implant hurt?

The implant is placed under local anaesthetic, so during the procedure most people feel pressure rather than pain. Over the following days there may be some discomfort and swelling, which is usually well controlled with the medication we prescribe. Everyone experiences it differently, so we explain what to expect in your case.

How long does an implant last?

A well-integrated implant that is looked after properly can last many years. Its lifespan depends mainly on your oral hygiene, regular check-ups, smoking and conditions such as gum disease or poorly controlled diabetes. We can't guarantee a specific timeframe, but we can help you look after it.

Can I have an implant if I've lost bone?

Often, yes. Bone grafting and regeneration techniques can rebuild bone before or during implant placement. We assess this with scans and explain your options, the extra time involved and whether it makes sense for you.

Will I be left with a gap while the implant heals?

In most cases, especially for front teeth, you can wear a temporary replacement. We explain what the healing period will look like from your first visit, so you can plan around work and daily life.

How much does an implant cost at your clinic?

The price depends on how many implants you need, the type of crown and whether a bone graft is required. Check our prices page for a guide, and after your assessment we give you a fixed written quote. Ask us about payment-plan options if you need them.
